FAQS

The NCC was founded by Dr. C. Harry Causey in 1984 with its first concert in Constitution Hall, Washington, DC. Two hundred fifty singers were recruited through Christian radio and auditioned for participation.

Membership is by audition, and we try to make that process as easy as possible. Auditions are held immediately following most of our concerts. There are also auditions by appointment which may be arranged by calling the choir office.

Not necessarily, but it helps. Some singers learn the music by listening to practice CDs. We memorize our entire repertoire, and this is done between rehearsals.

No, not many people do. Mainly we look for those who can sing their part independently with a voice that blends. Above all, we are looking for singers who love the Lord Jesus Christ and are called to worship Him with excellence.

The Choir rehearses from 7:15 – 9: 15pm almost every Monday night during the school year (excluding most of December and two weeks surrounding Easter.) There are also four or five summer rehearsals.

The Choir rehearses at the First Baptist Church of Rockville in Rockville, MD (located at Exit 6 on I-270).

The Choir offers 10-12 concerts annually in the Washington area, makes at least one new recording every year, and usually makes one tour somewhere in America annually.

Tours in America have taken The Choir to California where they were featured twice at the Crystal Cathedral on “The Hour of Power” with Robert Schuller, Colorado where they were the invited guests of James Dobson at the National Headquarters for Focus on the Family, and Florida where they participated on four occasions with Dr. R.C. Sproul’s Ligonier Ministries Conference and were also invited to sing at Disney World’s EPCOT. In 2004, they sang aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship as they cruised to Alaska, and in 2006, for the opening worship service of the National Religious Broadcasters Convention in Dallas, Texas. In 2008, they sang at Moody Church in Chicago. They have also sung in Washington state, Alaska, Indiana, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Nashville, and Wisconsin.

No, the orchestras that play in our Christmas concerts and on our recordings are hired.

“What Is Worship?” is a teaching by Dr. C. Harry Causey on four CDs containing 32 lessons creatively produced, containing excerpts of music by The National Christian Choir just as heard on our weekly radio program, Psalm 95. The study is suitable for personal devotions, small group Bible studies, and Sunday School classes.

We also offer a companion book to one of our recordings – “The Heart of a Child.” The book, written by Elizabeth Causey, is designed to be read to young children to enhance their understanding of the messages contained on the recording.

“Psalm 95” is a 55-minute, weekly radio program, hosted by Director of Music and Ministries, Kathy Bowman. It features the music of The National Christian Choir, the Word of God, and inspirational commentary designed to draw the listener closer to our Lord.
